James Nwafor, the former OC of AKWUZU SARS reported to be the most dreaded official of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad has been summoned to appear before the Anambra State Judicial Panel of Inquiry.
Nwafor was accused of the disappearance and the death of hundreds of victims who were arrested during his tenure. The case of Chijioke Iloanya was in the limelight during the #EndSARS protests.
The panel sat on Thursday, November 26 and testimonies of the victims families were made against Nwafor which prompted the Chairman of the panel to issue a summon to Nwafor and two others for them to appear on December 8.
Details of this development was communicated by Abdulahmud Esq, the legal counsel to the Iloanyas and other families via his official Twitter handle.
The tweets read;

“The CMD Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, DCP Kolo, Strategic Tactical Squad of @Policeng Abuja were also summoned to appear on 8 December 2020.
“The orders of the JPI were issued sequel to the oral applications (pursuant to S.9 Commission of Inquiry Law Anambra State 1991 & Rules 3, 4 & 7 of the JPI Rules 2020) by Abdul Mahmud Esq, counsel for the Iloanya, Adimachukwu, Onyemelue & Akabike families – petitioners
“The Commissioner of Police Anambra State is thus mandated to ensure compliance with the orders of Her Lordship, Hon. Justice VN Umeh, Chairman of the Anambra State Judicial Panel of Inquiry.”
Meanwhile, Chijioke’s sister Ada Iloanya who was present at the hearing, also onfirmed the development.
