Report gathered by our outfit indicates that the authorities of Austria have officially suspended inoculations with a batch of AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine as a precautionary measure as they investigate the demise of one person and the ill health of another after taking the injection.
A statement from the health agency in lower Austria province reads; ”The Federal Office for Safety in Health Care (BASG) has received two reports in a temporal connection with a vaccination from the same batch of the AstraZeneca vaccine in the district clinic of Zwettl”.
The 49-year-old woman died as a result of severe coagulation disorders, while a 35-year-old woman developed a pulmonary embolism and is recovering. A pulmonary embolism is an acute lung disease caused by a dislodged blood clot. The health agency further added;
”there is no evidence of a casual relationship with the vaccination” but the remaining stocks of the affected batch are no longer being used as a ”precautionary measure”.
A spokesman with AstraZeneca also had this to say; ”There have been no confirmed series adverse events associated with the vaccine”. He also added that all batches are subject to strict and rigorous quality controls.
He further stated that trials and real-wold experience so far suggest that the vaccine is safe and effecting adding that it has been approved for use in over 50 countries.
