Personnels of National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) have arrested four women for selling a newborn for N1.5 million naira.
The four women were paraded before men of the press on Thursday, September 3.
The suspects include, the baby’s grandmother, Harrieth Nmezi, two civil servants, Cecilia Onyeoma and Bernadette Ihezuo and Onyema’s sister Okasi Ekeoma.
The mother of the baby is a teenage girl got pregnant while staying with her mother, who then sent her to Onyema’s residence where she delivered her baby. Her baby was taken from her by the women who sold the baby out.
According to the NAPTIP officials said that the arrest wwas made after the matter was reported to them by members of the public.
The baby has being recovered from the suspects who will be arraigned in court soon.
