Davido is a Nigerian song writer and afro-pop musician popularly known as OBO or 30 Billion Gang. We are going to be shedding light on the major aspects of his life.
Davido was born as David Adeleke in Atlanta, Georgia in the United States of America on November 21, 1992.
Davido was born into the family of business tycoon, Adedeji Adeleke and late university lecturer Veronica Adeleke. Davido is the third of four children. His siblings include Adewale Adeleke, Sharon Adeleke-Ademefun and Ashley Adeleke-Adaji.
Young David had his basic and secondary education at British International School, Lagos. At the age of 16, he was admitted into the Oakwood University, Alabama, USA, there he studied Business Administration for a while before dropping out to pursue music. Davido however went back to school when he studied Music in Babcock University, Remo, Ogun State.
Davido developed keen interest for music when he was still at Oakwood University. During that time, he stayed in the student dormitory despite been a billionaire’s son, this was when he started making his own beats.
He later dropped out of school to pursue his passion for music.
Davido dropped his debut single in 2011, the title of the song was ‘Back When’ featuring Naeto C. He later dropped Dami Duro which most people mistake to be his first song.
Davido’s first album was titled, ‘Omo Baba Olowo'(meaning- child of a wealthy father) in 2012.
Other songs in his debut album include; “Back When”, “Ekuro”, “All of You”, “Gbon Gbon”, “Feel Alright” and “Overseas”.
Davido has won several awards. Such as the Dynamix all youth award, Headies award, Channel O music videos award, Nigerian Entertainment awards, South African Music Award 2020. Note that all this awards include a variety of categories, not just one.
