A 29-year-old man named Adekunle Adebiyi has been arrested and arraigned for abducting and raping his five-year old daughter.
Adebiyi and the mother of the child were reportedly not married and had just made up after a serious disagreement in May 2020.
The mother of the victim who is simply known as Anu, said that on May 26, after she was returning from a visit to the market, the victim took ill, which was why she reported to the barbershop of Adebiyi in AbuleEgba, Lagos State.
According to her, Adebiyi gave her his Automated Teller Machine Card to go and withdraw the sum of five thousand naira, upon her return, Adebiyi and the victim was no where to be found.
She immediately reported to the police and she was reunited with here daughter a week later.
Anu said she noticed some weird changes in her daughter’s behaviour, as the victim always expressed discomfort whenever she wanted to wash her private parts.
“When I got home, I noticed some changes in her. She would be holding her chest and wouldn’t allow me to wash her private parts. I asked her what happened but she didn’t say anything.
“About three weeks after, I woke her up at night and asked her why she didn’t allow me to touch her private parts. She said his dad touched her ‘bum bum’ with his finger and his ‘thing’. I was shocked. I reported the case at Alausa (Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team office) and we were referred to Isokoko Police Station. He denied to have sexually harassed her and his family has been threatening me.”
The victim was tested at the Mirabel Centre, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, where it was confirmed that the victim was defiled.
Adebiyi was arrested and arraigned in an Ogba magistrates’ court in Lagos on a one count of defilement. He is currently in police custody and the case has been adjourned till October 6, 2020.
