The Federal Government has announced that Nigeria and Jamaica launched direct flights linking the two countries on Monday.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ferdinand Nwonye, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday titled, ‘Nigeria and Jamaica Launch Inaugural Direct Flights’.
The statement read, “As part of the activities to commemorate 50 years of good bilateral relations between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Republic of Jamaica, an inaugural direct flight, Air Peace, departed from Lagos and has landed in Montego Bay on Monday, 21 December 2020.”
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, senior Nigerian government officials, as well as members of the organised private sector, were the delegations on the inaugural flight.
The delegation was received at the Sangster International Airport, Montego Bay by the Minister of Transportation of Jamaica, Robert Montague, and other top government officials in Jamaica.
