Ghana Generates $1.9 Billion From Year of Return Activities

Ghana has generated $1.9 billion from activities of the ‘Year of Return’ activities this year.

The Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Barbara Oteng-Gyasi, speaking at a ceremony at Anomabo to inaugurate a tourist centre and hand over facilities at the Heroes Garden said the ”Year of Return” programme has also increased arrivals into the country to 200,000.

She also said that the total arrivals in the country this stood 750,000.

The Year of Return programme has seen quite a number of African Americas in the country to trace their roots, and its has seen people like rapper T.I, Steve Harvey and Cardi B. This is not the end as a lot more are expected to be in the country this December.

From the look of things, the country will generate more revenue than it has already because a lot more are on their way to the country.

Year of Return

The “Year of Return” is a year-long event of the return of the descendants of the first enslaved Africans from James Town in Accra to James town in Virginia in the United States of America (USA).
