Canadian born Ghanaian actress Jackie Appiah is one of the popular screen goddess who graced our screens in the 2000s. She most loved for her roles in movies, her beauty and decency.
She started her acting career with the movie titled ‘Divine Love’. The actress due to her hard work as an actress has received a number of awards including Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 2010 African Movie Academy Awards and Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the African Movie Academy Awards in 2007 respectively. She was also awarded as Best Pan African Actress in 2011.
Jackie Appiah is Canadian by birth but she and her mum came back in Ghana in 1993 after she was born on December 5 1983. Her father is called Kwabena Appiah and mother is Janet Owusu.
Aside Jackie, her parents have five elderly children which means Jackie is the last child of both parents. While in Canada Jackie Appiah had her basic education at Derrydown, a public school in Toronto before hitting Ghana. In Ghana she continued her education in Faith Montessori in Accra and later moved to Achimota Preparatory school.
She made her first appearance on Tv in 2001 after she starred in a TV series called ‘Things We Do For Love and Not only Were We Smitten’. She warmed her way into the hearts of many viewers in Ghana. In 2004 she received her first movie role, a lead role to be precise in a movie called ‘Divine Love’ which starred top actors like Majid Michel and Van Vicker.
In 2007 she receieved her breakthrough after she was called for a movie in Nigeria called Sleep Walker that also starred Genevieve Nnaji and Ramsey Nouah. Since then she starred in several movies like Mummy’s daughter, Beyonce, Perfect Picture, Princess Tyra, Passion and Soul, 4play, Death after Birth, Stigma, Prince’s Bride, The King Is Mine, Return of Beyonce and many others.
Jackie Appiah was married to Peter Agyemang in 2005. But their marriage sadly hit the rocks in 2008 and they have a son together. The real cause for their divorce isn’t known till date. Their finalized their divorce process in 2012 and Jackie Appiah has custody of their son.
Jackie Appiah has a child called Damien Appiah who happens to be a product of her love for Peter Agyemang, her ex-husband.
