Many Ghanaian lecturers are pupil teachers says a retired Appeal court judge Justice Isaac Duose.
Speaking as a distinguished chairman at the West Africa Heroes of Distinction conference and Awards, Justice Isaac called for tertiary lecturers to acquire teaching qualifications to ensure students paying tertiary fees are getting the most out of their degrees.
He indicated that, people go to teacher training colleges and when they complete the ministry ask them to go for license for teaching, these people know the syllabus well.
But in the universities someone who has a mastery of specialist knowledge can teach which he claims should not be that way.
What qualifications do they have to teach, they don’t have any qualifications. They are pupil teachers, he said.
