The Member of Parliament for Asawase for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Muntaka Mubarak filed a proposal on April 5 in Parliament against the decision of the Speaker Rt Hon. Alban Bagbin to refer the three lawmakers, Hon. Lawyer Sarah Adwoa Sarfo Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Henry Quartey Member of Parliament for Ayawaso Central and Kennedy Ohene Agyapong Member of Parliament for Assin Central to the Privieges Committee.
According to him, the decision by the Speaker is unfair to the three lawmakers of the New Patriotic Party(NPP). He called on Parliament to rescind the referral made by the Speaker to the Privileges Committee.
Muntaka added that, if the Speakers decision is allowed to stand, it will set a dangerous precedence that can be used by a “dictator speaker” in the coming future to hurt law makers.
