Felicity Ama Agyemang popularly known as Nana Ama Mcbrown is a famous Ghanaian actress, TV show host, and song writer who has become a household name owing to her versatile roles in Akan movies.
Nana Ama was born in Kumasi, the Ashanti region of Ghana, on 15 August 1977 to Cecilia Agyenim Boateng, and Kwabena Nkrumah. The couple later divorced when Nana Ama was still young. Nana Ama together with her siblings were adopted by Kofi McBrown and her aunt, Madam Betty Obiri Yeboah due to her mum’s inability to single handedly cater for them.
The actress and her 6 siblings grew up in Kwadaso, Kumasi with her aunt and her adopted father. She considers her aunt as her “real mother” for providing her with a real home.
Nana Ama attended St. Peter’s International Residential School, moved on to Minnesota International and then to Central International. She continued to Kwadaso L.A. J.S.S, although she ended up as a drop out and could not sit for the Basic Education Certificate Exams. She later obtained Secretarial certificate from College of Business.
Nana Ama Mcbrown’s acting wasn’t part of her plans as she was called on Radio by Miracle Films and was asked to do costuming but instead secured a lead role for herself after Samuel Nyamekye, the director felt she fits better for the role. Her first movie ‘The Day’ was released in 2001 hence setting a pace for her acting career. She also later secured herself a role in the TV series ‘Tentacles’ owing from her performance in ‘The Day’ movie. In 2007 she starred in ‘Asoreba’ which saw her breakthrough in acting.
Nana Ama Mcbrown is married to Maxwell Mensah whom she says manages all her activities. The two married secretly due to avoidance of crowd. Maxwell Mensa was alleged to have dated Mzbel and many other top female celebrities before finally meeting Nana Ama Mcbrown.
Nana Ama Mcbrown and her husband have one child together. She is called Maxin Mawusi Mensah. Despite the two having just one child together, Maxwell Mensah already has a son.
