Nigerians on social media are calling for the shut down of all registration centers of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) following the huge crowd in Alausa, Lagos.
The Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy had given a two-week ultimatum to all telecommunication operator in the country to block all SIM cards that are not linked to National Identification Numbers, NIN.

“Lagos Govt arrested people at Cubana on Sat because of Covid 19 but are okay with Thousands queueing at NIMC office to get NIN as they have bribed Covid to go on Xmas Hols. This could have been done Digitally but God Forbid NG does something Healthy even in a Pandemic.Spits”
“When I tell una say na #idiots dey rule us, una go say I too brutal. Of all times, is this the best time to allow people cluster like this? With the rising number of COVID-19 infection in Lagos, here is NIMC office, Alausa, Lagos State.”
“They canceled all concerts because of Covid-19 but here’s NIMC, a government office filled with hundreds of people. This government is tactless!!!”
