Report currently gathered from the world of Tennis indicates that Serena Williams’ quest to grab her 24th Grand Slam title has been cut short after Victoria Azarenka defeated her in the semi-finals of the US Open in the early hours of today September 11, 2020.
Report has it that Serena won the first set but Victoria Azarenka from Belarus won the last two sets at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center to reach the finals at the US Open final with Naomi Osaka.
Serena Williams’ failure to land her 24th Grand Slam title was as a result of a pain she felt in her ankle in the final set.
Serena Williams disclosed that her defeat was ‘obviously disappointing’. she further had this to say; “At the same time, I did what i coul today, I feel like other times I’ve been close and i could have done better. Today I felt like I gave a lot”.
Victoria Azarenka after winning the game also had this to say; “I have been working on finding a calm mind and keep the body going. She dug me in a big hole in the first set. I need to find energy to climb out of the whole and it wasn’t easy”.
