Residents of Rukpokwu community in Rivers state are currently and angry and mourning after policemen gunned down a young tricycle a.k.a Keke NAPEP rider because he refused to pay bribe of hundred naira.
Pinaxonline.com gathered that the rider who’s named SchoolBoy was looking for passengers when he was accosted by some policemen who asked him to pay N100 because it was not yet time for him to start operating. The deceased refused and then he was shot dead before his tricycle was set ablaze.
Millions of Nigerians on social media are currently ‘breathing fire’ and also sharing pictures and videos of the incident. According to an Instagram user named @Jordiithegreat the policemen ran after carry out the horrific act.
“Happening live in rukpokwu and rumodumaya community of Port Harcourt, Rivers State… As police officer shoots and kill a small boy who is a Keke driver over 100 naira…
“The police man asked the Keke driver to give him 100 naira and the boy said he doesn’t have 100 naira to give to them, after much argument the police officer shoots the young boy and they ran away. What else are we going to do in this country na… The young boy is dead now Police just killed a young boy in rukpokwu community of Rivers State, Port Harcourt. For just 100 naira the Keke boy refused to give to the police officer the police officer shot him dead.”
A video of one of SchoolBoy’s friends who was preparing to join him has also popped up online. He disclosed that when the deceased body was taken to the police station they started shooting live bullets and it hit two more guys in their legs. On Nigerian Twitter, the hashtag ‘Keke’ is trending and it is because of the incident.
