A seven-man robbery syndicate operating in military uniform along the Benin-Lagos expressway have been nabbed by the Ogun State Police Command.
The suspects were paraded at Command headquarters located at Eleweran, Abeokuta.
Confirming the incident, the State Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, disclosed that the police was able to make the arrest after the suspected leader of the syndicate Obiora Michael, was traced to his residence at Ajangbadi area of Lagos State on September 17, 2020.
He added that the gang and the police had earlier had a gun duel and the leader of the gang had sustained injury, when he got home, Michael had alleged told his wife that he sustained the injuries during a road accident.
“He had lied to his wife that he sustained the injuries in a road accident,” the CP said.
CP Ajogun identified the suspects, Ikechukwu Alore, Ifeanyi Emmanuel, Chibueze Kingsley, Obiora Michael, Elias John and Vincent Magnus. They were arrested on Tuesday and paraded on Wednesday September,23.
He stated that the suspects were arrested from their various hideouts by the operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
Some items were also seized from the gang which includes, three sets of military camouflage, a military vest, a nose mask in army camouflage, a military head-warmer and camouflage bag as well as an imitation gun.
