Anja Ringgren Loven, a Nigerian based Danish aid worker and founder of Land of Hope Charity Organisation has recounted how 13-year-old Ekemini was rescued while she was pregnant in Akwa Ibom back in the year 2016.
Anja and her husband, David Emmanuel Umem had rescued and cared for Ekemini who’s now 17 years old during the time she was pregnant, when she was delivered of the baby via Caesarean Section.
Loven took to her social media pages on Thursday, November 26 to share a photo of Ekemini’s son, Abasiofon disclosing that he clocked the age of 4. She also described the boy as “a sweet butter cheeks muffin pumpkin pie that someone may want to eat up”
She wrote;
“Back in 2016 David Emmanuel Umem and our team rescued Ekemini. She was only 13 years old and pregnant,”
“Because of her young age, Ekemini had a cesarean a few months after the rescue. Our nurse Rose, our Director of Child Development Nsidibe Orok, our Education Officer Don Udowan and David was all with her. I was there via Skype from Denmark”
“We were all so happy to welcome Abasiofon to the world. Only one day after the cesarean Ekemini stood out of bed ! She was so strong and NEVER complained about anything,”
“Ekemini is one of the strongest girls I have ever met in my life. To become a mother at the age of 13 is not easy and Ekemini had a lot to learn. Lucky for her she was surrounded by the best staff in the world at Land of Hope.
“Today Abasiofon is 4 years old and he has grown into such a sweet butter cheeks muffin pumpkin pie you just want to eat up”
