Renowned Human Rights activist, Harrison Emefiena Gwamnishu has announced the arrest of the soldiers involved in the assault on a young man named Godson alleged to be a Sickle cell patient in Delta State.
Few days ago, a video of soldiers beating up a guy on the road made rounds online. In the video, a guy suspected to be the brother to the victim kept saying his brother was a sickle cell carrier. However, the soldiers continued to beat him while telling him to ‘shake and die’.
Gwamnishu in a post on his Facebook page on Monday, November 23 said that the head of Civil Military Affairs, Maj. Gen. Bature said that the soldiers have been arrested.
The post reads;
“All the Soldiers involved in brutal assault on Godson have been arrested and detained. The female soldiers inclusive.
“The head of Civil Military Affairs, Maj. Gen. Bature has just confirmed the ‘arrest’ of the soldiers involved in this video. We are also pushing for the arrest of the Civil Defense officers with them.
“Please help us film them when the need arises. We will keep you anonymous and protect you till infinity.
“Thanks to you all that shared the video and special thanks to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa. Thanks to Tomi Akporoghene Wojuola for bringing this update to my attention. Behind Bars Team”
