Recall that we reported on the Lawyers for John Dramani Mahama officially requesting for a live broadcast of the hearing of the petition contesting the results of the 2020 general elections.
According to the lawyers, their request is in the interest of fairness was it was also done during the 2012 election petition.
They made reference to Rule 69(C) 4(A) of C.I. 16 which states that Counsel for and on behalf of the Petitioner shall move the Honorable Court for an order directing live transmission of the whole of the proceedings in this Petition upon the grounds contained in the accompanying affidavit, and for such further or other orders as the Honourable Court may deem fit.
John Dramani Mahama’s lawyer Tony Lithur has also filed a motion to correct some mistakes in the petition submitted earlier. The Supreme Court will be informed about the request today, January 14th 2021 when the court commences the hearing of the first case.
Well, reports currently gathered by our outfit indicates that the Supreme Court has granted John Dramani Mahama’s request to have the 2020 election petition shown live on TV. The request was reportedly granted today, January 14, 2021.
