Popular singer, Simisola Ogunleye, popularly known as Simi has reacted to the video of Lagos lawmaker, Desmond Elliot and other representatives calling for the regulation of social media in Nigeria.
In the video, the lawmakers stated that social media influencers and celebrities incite the public to aggravate issues in the country which often leads to insults to the politicians.
Simi took to her Twitter page on Thursday, October 29 to state that the lawmakers are ‘touts in agbada’, she also called out Elliot stating that the people voted for him and not the so-called celebrities he’s blaming.
“Touts in agbada. Na una be the real hoodlums. U’re complaining about looters. Very bad, yes. But you’ve been looting from the national coffers for decades. The money of your people. The food of your people. Eyin agbaya buruku. You’re worse.
“Cousin Desmond should have used the same energy to fight for us. Now he’s collecting money, we’re “children”. You can see it’s not about age. You can be 22 years old and wicked. “Celebrities yen yen”…they didn’t vote for celebs, they voted for you sir.”
