Pierre-Emerick Emiliano François Aubameyang is a Gabonese professional footballer who plays as a forward for Premier League club Arsenal, where he is vice-captain, and is the captain of the Gabon national team.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has hit back at Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke over his claims the Arsenal striker left the German club for money.

Earlier this week Watzke claimed in an interview that Aubameyang, who signed for Arsenal from Dortmund for £56million in January 2018, made the switch to the Gunners because of money.

The 60-year-old also made a jibe about Aubameyang playing in the Europa League and not in the Champions League.

Watzke told Suddeutsche Zeitung: ‘Of course it is hard to keep a player in the face of such sums. Some go to clubs because of this money, where they have not played Champions League for years.

‘[Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang, who plays great at Arsenal, will probably be warm-hearted when he looks at his bank account, but on Wednesdays will be saddened when he has to watch the Champions League on television.’

Upon hearing this accusation, Aubameyang called Dortmund CEO ‘a clown’, and instead accused him of selling his former teammate Ousmane Dembele to Barcelona because of money.
