Six Nigerian Nationals have been convicted by an Abu Dhabi Federal High Court of Appeal for funding the notorious terrorism sect, Boko Haram.
Reports from Daily Trust Newspaper on Monday have it that two of them named Surajo Abubakar Muhammad and Saleh Yusuf Adamu were sentenced to life imprisonment.
Others named; AbdurRahman Ado Musa, Ibrahim Ali Alhassan, Muhammad Ibrahim Isa and Bashir Ali Yusuf were sentenced to ten years imprisonment.
The convicts made cash transfers to Boko Haram totalling $782,000.00 between 2015 and 2016.Reports have it that they were arrested between April 16 and 17, 2017
According to the National Security Bureau results from investigation “confirmed their involvement and membership of the Boko Haram”.
An alleged Nigerian government official simply named “Alhaji Ashiru” was also involved in the transactions. Another undercover Boko Haram agents allegedly facilitated the transactions and he was named as on ‘Alhaji Sa’idu’.
Meanwhile, Nigrians on social media have reacted to the news. Some have questioned the fact that the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigerian, Godwin Emefiepe didn’t get wind of the transactions buy he was able to track down accounts of those supporting #endSARS.
