Report gathered by our outfit indicates that the World Health Organization (WHO) is encouraging African nations including Ghana not to discard expired Covid-19 antibodies. The Organization says the immunizations are ok for use regardless of their expiry.
The allure comes after Malawi and South Sudan said they would destroy in excess of 70,000 dosages of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine since they expired in mid-April, as reported by the BBC.
This is what the director fof the Africa CDC, John Nkengasong, had to say;
”My appeal to member states is, if we are doing our part to mobilise these vaccines, you do your part and use the vaccines”.
Ongoing figures from the Ghana Health Service (GHS) show that Ghana’s Covid-19 cases have dropped to 25. Up until this point, 555,259 vaccine dosages have been administered to more than 250, 000 Ghanaians, the Ghana Health Service has expressed.
