Youths of Rukpokwu in Rumodumaya community of Port Hatcourt, Rivers State have taken to the streets in the numbers to protest the killing of a young tricycle rider by a police officer.
Earlier on Thursday morning, December 10, a Keke Napep rider named SchoolBoy was killed by a policeman over his refusal to pay bribe of 100 naira, youths of the community took his body to the police station to report however, they were shot at and two other guys sustained bullet wounds.
In anger, youths have trooped out in the hundreds and have bundled SchoolBoy’s body on a tricycle and they are currently protesting massively. Videos of the protest has broken the internet. In most of the videos some of the are wailing and shouting the deceased name. Other are chanting ‘Because of 100 naira’.
As of the time of filing this report, the protest is still ongoing and the appropriate authorities haven’t released an official statement on the issue. Meanwhile, on Nigerian social media, Nigerians are calling out the Police and Governor Nyesom Wike.
